Kampus Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Łodzi nieustannie się rozwija. W czerwcu tego roku uruchomiliśmy Łódzkie Centrum Toksykologii. Istniała pilna potrzeba utworzenia nowoczesnego centrum ratowania pacjentów zatrutych różnymi substancjami, ponieważ liczba takich przypadków stale rośnie. ŁCT przyjmuje pacjentów zatrutych alkoholem i substancjami odurzającymi, a także osoby zatrute m.in. dymem, grzybami, środkami ochrony roślin czy metalami ciężkimi.
W tym odcinku rozmawiamy z dr n. med. Małgorzata Brauncajs, kierującą wchodzącym w struktury ŁCT – Medycznym Laboratorium Mikrobiologicznym CSK m.in. o tym, jacy pacjenci trafiają pod opiekę specjalistów Centrum Toksykologii, jakie patogeny są aktualnie największym zagrożeniem dla ludzkości i jakimi nowoczesnymi metodami ich wykrywania i zwalczania dysponujemy.
