To pierwsze tego typu badanie w Polsce, finansowane przez Agencję Badań Medycznych Realizuje je konsorcjum, w skład którego wchodzą:
Uniwersytet Medyczny w Łodzi (lider),
Centralny Szpital Kliniczny Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Łodzi,
Śląski Uniwersytet Medyczny w Katowicach
oraz Instytut Psychiatrii i Neurologii w Warszawie.
Wyniki badania mogą w przyszłości stanowić przełom w leczeniu Alzheimera. To krok w stronę terapii, która nie tylko łagodzi objawy, ale modyfikuje przebieg choroby.
